These are just random shots of the old portion of Split. There was so much to take pictures of as the place is rather amazing if you are a fan of architecture and ruins.

While not definitively identified, this sculpture is widely believed to represent the hands of Christ crowning the Virgin Mary or a historical figure, such as an emperor. It is found within the propugnaculum of the Iron Gate of Diocletian’s Palace.



It is known that Sigmund Freud visited Split because he mentioned it in his book The Interpretation of Dreams. According to Split art historian Joško Belamarić, Sigmund Freud stayed in town just for a few days. It was even shorter than a visit by George Bernard Shaw, who was photographed in front of the Saint Domnio Cathedral in 1929.
