The Musee Magie

In keeping with my desire to see small museums in Paris this year, I visited the Musée Magie, or Museum of Magic.

This guy sticks his tongue out at you as you enter the museum. A great start to any museum.

The Museum of Magic and Curiosity is a private collection of optical illusions, fun house mirrors, wind-up toys, and historical magic artifacts.

I had the most fun pushing the buttons on their terrific collection of over 100 19th- and 20th-century automatons.

You Have to See My Mother-in-Law

Push the button and voila.

Each ticket includes a magic show, oh, and the museum just happens to be beneath the Marquis de Sade’s house.

A snake charmer who bowed to you.

The Cluny

The history of Cluny is long and complicated; the building is stunning.  The Cluny houses one of the largest collections of art from the Middle Ages. However, what it is most famous for, and what most people come to see, is the iconic series of six 15th-century tapestries known as The Lady and the Unicorn.

The ceiling of the private family chapel

This is just one of the tapestries. I took this picture from Wikipedia, as the room is simply not conducive to taking pictures.
